Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). As a young girl, she moved to Oxfordshire where she attended The Dragon School. From the age of six Emma knew she would like to be an actress. For many years she was a student at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied performing and singing. Emma's debut on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. The film set records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs and became the top-grossing movie of 2001. The critics were impressed by the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British paper, praised her for her performance. Later Emma was nominated for five awards for her role in the film winning an award called the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress Young in the Feature Film.
